About
As Pracownia Zjawisk Audiowizualnych (PZA) - the Audiovisual Phenomena Lab - we were officially founded in Wrocław in August 2026.
But our story goes back much further.
We come from electronic music, sound system culture and niche new media art. We combine technical craft with audiovisual art. We believe in DIY culture, sharing knowledge, and technology that is accessible to everyone.
Some of what we do
Events and spaces - We bring forgotten places in Wrocław and Lower Silesia back to life. We move into old factories, halls and empty buildings in the spirit of regeneration. We work with existing venues, art galleries and cultural spaces. By day we open them up for interactive exhibitions, light installations and workshop spaces; by night we turn them into a stage for events, concerts and audiovisual performance.
Technology and craft - We build our own sound systems, design unconventional sound and light installations, and generate image and sound with code, scaling what we can do with artificial intelligence. We work in an open-source spirit - treating hardware and software as creative tools rather than off-the-shelf products. Where there are technological gaps that affect us, we build our own solutions and make them available to everyone, free and without restrictions.
Acoustic relaxation zones and ambient sessions - We use our sound systems not only for high-energy concerts but also for multichannel ambient and field-recording sessions in parks and housing estates. Through deep, immersive listening in a spirit of mindfulness, we create open spaces for quiet and for bringing local communities together.
Access to technology and social solidarity - We actively share the Foundation’s technical resources. We lend sound and lighting equipment free of charge to young artists and grassroots initiatives, lowering the economic barriers to professional stage tools. We also support the local economy by commissioning work from social economy enterprises.
Education and workshops - We share knowledge from the borderland of engineering and art. We teach sound system building, acoustics, coding, AI, VJing, lighting design and audio production. We bring the community together at open meetings with artists, publish free guides, and support projects through technical consulting.
Safety and responsibility - We make sure our events are safe, equal and free from discrimination (safe spaces / awareness). We minimise plastic and energy use, and rely on a local, self-sufficient community.
Responsibility and wellbeing (ESG & harm reduction) - We operate as a modern foundation focused on real social impact and sustainable development. We integrate ESG standards into our everyday cultural work - from energy-efficient technology and circular equipment management to care for local ecosystems. We actively take part in initiatives promoting mental health (wellbeing) and harm reduction programmes in club and festival spaces. We create a safe, inclusive environment, working in partnership with institutions, NGOs, the public sector and business.

Marek Stodolny
President of the Board
Active on the Wrocław scene as an artist and music producer.
At PZA he brings together code, sound synthesis and graphics with the building of physical installations. He is responsible for visual identity, software, unconventional deployments, project organisation, and the formal and day-to-day running of the Foundation.
Aleksander Spitalniak
Vice-President of the Board
Artist, music producer and sound engineer, active in Wrocław and Brussels.
A practitioner of sound system culture and of working with experimental equipment.
At PZA he is the main technical and engineering pillar. He is responsible for physical delivery - designing and building sound systems, acoustics, live sound, and working directly with venues and spaces - as well as joint artistic curation and the Foundation’s day-to-day activities.
